What are the natural disasters that happen or could happen where you live?

Inspired by this question: https://answermug.com/forums/topic/137304/have-you-ever-been-affected-by-a-severe-storm/view/post_id/956534/

The ones where I live would be blizzards, tornadoes, hail, high winds and now wildfires, which never used to happen but there have been quite a few grass fires nearby in the last few years.

    264.08 km

That’s as the crow flies, unless he’s drunk, then it’s a lot more.

No, I’m not going to tell you which point in Minneapolis I chose to measure the distance from my house.

Thank you, that’s a start. I’m now going to ask everyone who is a member of AnswerMug the same: to calculate the approximate distance from their residences to where Jane S lives. I’ll triangulate from there. The more data points I receive, the higher the likelihood that I can pinpoint the exact location for which I am searching.

Jane S, approximately how far from Livvie’s residence is your residence, please? (Just a rough estimate within ten meters here or there will be fine. I’ll do the rest.)

264.08 km as the crow flies (when he's sober).

I'm not sure that knowing that I live exactly as far from Livvie as she lives from me will be the breakthrough clue that you're looking for.

It’s one of many tidbits of information that when combined will render satisfactory results. Soon I will be . . .

Isn’t that sweet? You went out and bought a nice jacket for me to wear for the springtime weather.

  • The natural disasters where are all results from the thunderstorm, which are tornadoes, hail, flash flooding and mudflows from severe flash flooding. Part of Buenos Aires has damage from a severe thunderstorm that was two weeks ago.

    hurricanes and tropical storms
    tornadoes
    wildfires
    sinkholes
    floods
    lightning (capital of USA)
tsunamis ....... We are told it will become a Florida thing.  OH boy.  Hope I'm out of here by then but I hear there are signs on some of the beaches to learn of what to be mindful.  This post was edited by Thriftymaid at May 22, 2022 7:24 PM MDT

A blizzard is a glorified snowstorm. Does that qualify as a natural disaster?

The only one I worry about is earthquakes. We are on tectonic plates that are due for a big slip.  We get our fuel and most of our electricity from the main land so it wouldn't take long for the fuel to run out and it could be a long time with no electricity. Cheers and happy weekend! This post was edited by Nanoose at May 22, 2022 7:24 PM MDT

    2. High winds
    3. Black people getting shot by a cop.

Excessive heat and extreme cold... maybe some major flooding every now and then.

Massive snow and ice obliteration of buildings. Bridge fail due to infrastructure ignorance during wind storms. Flooding hits the coast due to The Greenland Ice Shelf breaking off. Mudslides. Sink holes. This post was edited by CosmicWunderkind at May 22, 2022 7:24 PM MDT
