Copperhead Road by Steve Earle. Copperhead Road is a song about a guy that got out of a failing family illegal booze business and into the profitable illegal cannabis business. Cheers and happy weekend!

I don't think he got caught because Charlie knew they better stay away from Copperhead road. Cheers!

I remember this cheesy tune back in 1967. The thing is, this cheese is great. Only two of the Monkees were musicians.

(Jones' optimism in his song lyrics is shared so artfully, along with his incredible music composing and performing - - he is SO much my man. He successfully inspires me to live better.)
"Life In One Day"
The old man said to me Said don't always take life so seriously Play the flute And dance and sing your song
Try and enjoy the here and now The future will take care of itself somehow The grass is never greener over there Time will wear away the stone Gets the hereditary bone
[Chorus:] Don't try to live your life in one day Don't go speed your time away Don't try to live your life in one day Don't go speed your time away
The old man said to me Said you can't change the world single-handedly Raise a glass enjoy the scenery Pretend the water is champagne And fill my glass again and again While the wolves are gathering round your door Time will wear away the stone Gets the hereditary bone
The old man said to me Said don't always take life so seriously Play the flute And dance and sing your song
Try and enjoy the here and now The future will take care of itself somehow The grass is never greener over there Time will wear away the stone Gets the hereditary bone
I tried to live my life in one day Don't go speed your time away
I bit off more than I can chew Only so much you can do
Wolves are gathering round my door Ask them in and invite some more
I tried to live my life in one day Don't go speed your time away

another superlative-to-me positive song for living successfully by Howard Jones
(And one of my favorite life memories: Waiting in line to get into one of his concerts, two security guards quietly came up to me, took me by the elbow and told me to please come with them. And took me into the building to places I knew were not where the public would typically go. Howard had told the guards that his brother was out in the crowd and didn't want attention brought to him but he wanted to see Howard. Guards asked Howard how would they know who his brother was. Howard said, "Look for someone who looks just like me and dressed like me. That will be my brother."
"Things Can Only Get Better"
We're not scared to lose it all Security throw through the wall Future dreams we have to realize A thousand skeptic hands Won't keep us from the things we plan Unless we're clinging to the things we prize
And do you feel scared, I do But I won't stop and falter And if we threw it all away Things can only get better
Treating today as though it was The last, the final show Get to sixty and feel no regret It may take a little time A lonely path, an uphill climb Success or failure will not alter it
And do you feel scared, I do And I won't stop and falter And if we threw it all away Things can only get better
This is great Wel, but, it is only you I turn to affirm my feeling that Bent Cold Sidewalk is the most masterful piece Tangerine Dream ever did and that it is a masterpiec of spooky heartbreaking intellectual genius on the album cyclone! Meh! Can't post the song! https://www.allmusic.com
When I talk to the trees O'great trees who have learned to speak slowly I know that they believe that they have an answer Then I walk in the city where I cannot hear it
When I talk to the city I have already learned three answers Before I call the question And slowly, I wish myself among trees But can not hear myself wishing
Muni Long “Pain” (Live Performance) | Open Mic
Muni Long “Pain” (Live Performance) | Open Mic
When I talk to the people Who are the trees that grow in the city They reply with a fond kindness, slowly But there is no answer For experience to be made by mistake
Upon this key, time will slide Beyond the lock, you lose your mind And as our door becomes open A rush of sound is found inside Creating dreams that pass you by
You may live through your life a long long time.. But you will never know from where it came Yet all you've seen is what you've wanted to You're walking forward as you look behind Still watching those old memories fade and die...
This door is heavy, and is deeply stained With wasted tears, that try to fight in vain You may be sitting, feeling quite secure But listen carefully - and this key is yours - For we can lead you far beyond that door...
There are dangers hidden, trust in that language And it is precisely this conception that which must not be changed The epitome of our language is patterns containment of thought and sound
I die to fight!! I die to fight!! I die to fight!!
Upon this key, time will slide Beyond each lock, you lose your mind And as our door becomes open A rush of sound is found inside - Creating dreams that pass you by..
Bent cold sidewalk, open the gate I may be late but I can no longer wait Stealing the crown that stood me up I'm laying the table with dusty plates Bent cold sidewalk, open the gate I may be late but I can no longer wait Playing the god to fix your gaze I'm holding you firm on another day Bent cold sidewalk, open the gate I may be late but I can no longer wait

I didn't use the lnk you offered but I looked up the song after reading your reply and just got done listening.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot argue your viewpoint that this song is their most masterful. I thought I preferred their instrumental-only" pieces but this song blew me away. Of course, the instrumentals are heavenly to me but I also really like the vocals and how they're performed. I've never heard this song until now. Loved it immediately. I'm most likely going to sign off for the night off the site soon - - this song was a great way for me to end my day musically. Thanks for sharing!
I'm going to try to post the performance recording to which I listened. And the song lyrics.
