    Why mothers and not fathers?

I do apologize!  I was speaking solely from personal experience.  My father was not afraid of mice (or any rodents) in the slightest.  My mother, on the other hand, was deathly afraid of the little suckers!  She could not even watch mice or rodents on TV or in movies.  Again I apologize for my bias!

I didn't think of it as bias. :)  Neither my mother nor father were particularly afraid.

    I agree; I don’t see bias.

I don’t think so, but I don’t remember either one of us ever seeing a live mouse.  I have cats so I’ve definitely seen more than enough dead ones.

I'm so happy for you.  My Mom was absolutely terrified of them!  If she saw, or even heard, a mouse, she would scream at the top of her lungs and run from one level of the house to another!  No child should see that!!!

LOL... I can assure you it most certainly is not!  The gif is a very accurate depiction of what my mother's reaction would be in the exact same situation!

It’s a 404 already.   I hate it when that happens.

Now that I think about it, I don’t remember my grandmothers ever being afraid of mice either.  I just asked my husband about it.  He doesn’t think his mom is and he doesn’t think his dad’s mom was, but he says his mom’s mom was probably absolutely disgusted by them.  She was disgusted by just about everything.

My mother is deathly afraid of all creatures great and small. Not just rodents either. Let an insect get within 100 yards of her and she loses her mind.

With my mom just rodents and snakes.  She can at least tolerate other creepy crawlies.

I believe you, yes. None of us children like to hear a parent scream or be upset.

It also does something to a child seeing an adult so utterly petrified by something that even they themselves have no (initial) fear of!
