How elaborate will your Thanksgiving Day feast be this year? Ours will be extremely low-key and subtle. ~

    We stopped with fancy feasts years ago.  We are having grilled tenderloin and simply cooked vegetables.  No fancy casseroles or expensive items. There will be at least one pie and one cake for dessert.

    My sister has been determined to have the usual big feast this year.  However things aren't working out as she had planned.  I'm getting over a bad case of covid, so I can't contribute.  Other family members are experiencing financial difficulties and so they will be unable to contribute.  So she'll either have to provide/cook it all herself, or scale back on the "feast".  (As of today, she is still refusing to accept the second option.)

    Thanksgiving dinner will be at my house this year and it‘s going to be a crowded house just like it was last Thanksgiving.  This is because I have the farm so my holiday feast isn’t subject to inflation and supply chain problems.  I hunted enough pheasant to feed everybody and I’ve grown most of the other food that’ll be served.

    I can’t guarantee that a dish brought by a family member won‘t have mayonnaise, but look at the bright side.  It’s a pretty safe bet that no dishes will contain Vegemite.  Avocado’s still a toss-up.  It might show up at Thanksgiving dinner or it might not show up.  You never know.

    The only people who celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia are American and Canadian expatriates. I've lived here all my 53 years, it's NOT something Australians do. Our harvest season is in April/May, so November makes no sense. So the link is nonsense.

    Ours will also be small, my wife and I, my daughter's family and stepdaughter and her son. Maybe I'll make some guac this year. Avocados are cheap now.
