A public restroom question :

For those who have used public restrooms that have enclosed toilet paper dispensers as big as automobile tires - -

do you ever find yourself taking minutes to find the edge of the toilet paper if it's "up in there" somewhere?

Never that long. I can normally just spin it and the end will fall down.

Even spinning the roll, sometimes for me the edge just clings to the roll.  :)

I believe that the word “clings” is ill-chosen for this particular topic thread.

Yes I have. What a pain in the a&&. I clean a tennis club and when I replace the toilet paper, I always make sure it is hanging down.

:) And it seems for me, even in the 'middle' of some rolls, the edge gets very snug against the roll and difficult to find even while I endlessly rotate the roll.  :)

I usually ruin the first few pulls on a new roll in a public restroom because when I finally find the end and pull on it, it tears down the middle and keeps tearing down the middle.

Yes. While you're doing that, I'm over in the men's room doing the same thing.  :)

     LoL, yes!

And here I was thinking I’m the only person neurotic enough to have ever agonized over this problem! We should start a support group!

    Yes, PTA support group - - Public Toilets Anonymous .  . . uh, wait . . . maybe that's been taken already.

I believe that's a scene from the remake of "Dawn of the Dead." Maybe. But I've know I've seen the movie.  :)

Sorry, I have learned to go 18 hours without a bathroom break because of precisely that sort of thing.

  • If I can't find the edge, I try to put my fingernail under the first layer. Then I try to tear across the roll so I can pull down on it. Sometimes that takes minutes. Sometimes I shred the roll before it turns.

Psst, can you roll that roll of toilet paper back to me?  Umm yeah, don’t ask how it fell on the floor and rolled out from under the stall.

If you want to take it home you’ll have to catch it first!  Look at that roll of toilet paper go!  It’s rolling out of the restroom!  It’s rolling down the aisle!  It’s rolling by the checkout stands!  It’s rolling out the door!  It’s rolling across the crosswalk!  It’s rolling through the parking lot!  Oh no!  It rolled itself out!  Now it’s just a piece of cardboard with nothing on it.  It made a valiant effort to get away.
