Stewart Rhodes jailed for 18 years for sedition. How does this affect His Royal Orangeness?

Surely this scuttles his campaign? Even if he manages to weasel his way out of being convicted himself for Jan 6, calling the Oath Keepers "good people" is undeniably offering comfort - so he's constitutionally ineligible to hold office! Or am I misreading Section III of the Fourteenth Amendment?

    Trump has also stated, publicly,  that if re-elected he will pardon all of those involved - so that nails it down. Slam dunk, offering comfort to persons guilty of sedition.

    He did not say all. He said he would look at the individual cases and pardons would be on the table.

    It has nothing to do with Trump.  But the left will continue to grasp at straws. 

    Trump is not going to jail.
    Trump is not going to be executed for treason.
    Trump is not going to be barred from holding office.

    Screwed, blued and tattooed, darling. As usual, Trumpicans will continue to excuse all sorts of behaviour (bigotry, racism, misogyny and outright treason etc) but you have completely failed to provide ANY alternative interpretation of the 14th which clears him.

    To be disqualified the Senate would have to vote on it....we both know that is not going to happen. 

    You are going with the assumption of guilt,  that is not how it works.

    Different rules than for impeachment, a simple majority is all that is needed for this one - and as of right now the Democrats have that, even WITHOUT a casting vote from Kamala. The Democrats actually gained a Senate seat at the midterms, have you forgotten that?

    Couple things.  I don't think Rhodes conviction will affect Trump at all.  He'd     have to be convicted of sedition before the 14th kicks in.  And he called the Nazi's fine people - not the oath keepers..  It's a distinction without a difference, but not illegal in any case.

    Trump did not call the Nazis in Charlottesville fine people.  The fine people where the people who were there to peacefully protest the removal of historic statues and for the removal of historic Statues. (Fine people on both sides)

    Read it again...two groups opposite positions.  

    The other groups were the violent ones....again some were for the removal of statues and some were not.  But neither side of the violent groups were fine people.

    I think how it will effect Trump is by getting him back into the Oath Keepers good book. They were mad at Trump after Jan. 6th - they said he showed weakness by not marching with them to the capital and keeping up the fight. They were also not happy that he didn't pardon them well he was still in office. So Trump will milk the Rhodes thing for all it is worth. Cheers!

    Trump says he can declassify documents simply by thinking about it.. I think he's right.  Given that he has the absolute power to declassify documents, I think he has the same absolute power to pardon.  All Trump has to do, is mind meld a pardon.

    Let's be clear..  The judge SLAMMED Rhodes because he is UNREPENTANT, and said when he's free, he'll do it again..  This is the man Trump wants back on the street.

    God help us if he wins.
