Does this photo make you cringe?

Trump holds up an executive order to dismantle the education department, in Washington DC on Thursday.

I think it is horrible that he used some kids as props. Cheers!

What they are doing PUBLICLY negates whatever they might be doing in private. They are institutionalizing government brutality towards the poor and downtrodden. Cancelling USAID takes food and clean water AWAY from the hungry and thirsty. His brazen push towards privatizing SS and Medicaid is going to make more people sick and homeless. We're talking billions and I promise you that anything they may be doing "from their prayer closet" (I seriously doubt that either even has one, Trump cant spell "charity" and Elon's fortune was built on child slavery) is dwarfed by their public kicking of the defenseless in the teeth.
Jesus himself was a refugee and I'm absolutely certain that Egypt didn't ask St Joseph for his documents.

Taking money from USAID takes money from Democrats that is why they are so upset.

Privatizing SS would only be small percentage and optional to people if they wanted. Privatized Medicare is better for the Seniors/disabled who have it they get better coverage and benefits that are not normally covered.
Musk's fortune was not built on child slavery.  That is just not true.

Very nasty deflection there. Half a billion dollars worth of food is spoling in US warehouses thanks to USAID being cancelled, the hungry who were going to get it won't.

Musk inherited his starting capital from his father who absolutely exploited black children in apartheid-era South Africa, that's verifiable fact. Much like Trump's grandfather exploited poor women, his fortune was made running brothels - a pimp. Trump's father invested that in building filthy, substandard, not up to code, rat-infested tenements - a slum landlord exploiting those who couldn't afford better accommodation elsewhere.

I bet to Trump knowing that the food will sit there and rot – and the hungry will remain hungry - is like the cherry on top of his cake. Cheers!

    I deflected nothing.
No,  the food is not sitting in warehouses rotting.   They passed something to make sure it was/gets delivered to where it needed to go.
No Musk did not inherit starting capital from his Dad. His Dad is still alive. And Musk and one if his brothers created a company while they were very young that they sold for millions. Giving Musk start money for PayPal, Telsa etc.

I didn't say Elon's dad was dead, I said he bankrolled him, which he did. "Creating a company" doesn't happen for free, Musk Sr financed it. With money made on the backs of African children.

Although I haven’t read the accompanying text, the charts in the link seem relevant, given that extremists currently see themselves as representative of the median: https://www.voteforcox.com/country-bicycle

Interesting link.  Basically, there re good and bad points in whichever stance you take, but the real goal is to wind up somewhere in the middle, which is probably where most voters are, irrespective of their party affiliation.

Yep, I agree. Politically I tend to sit somewhere between centre-left and centre-right, depending on the issue. In the last five UK elections, I’ve voted for three different parties, depending on their visions for the country. It amuses me that xenophobic, compassionless, self-centred bigots believe they’re now the centrists.

Much like you, I am center left when it comes to social issues and center right when it comes to financial issues.  I think most people are somewhere in the middle, but the two extremes are louder so they get more attention.

Wonder if the students in the photo above know that the guy that is signing the executive order to control public education - once had a University called Trump University and it was shut down because it was a scam.

    Cheers and happy weekend!

An EO to release control of public education  (returning it to states and local gov)

Trump U was not an university.  It was a program with many different courses in real estate.

When Trump first launched Trump University in 2005, he claimed that the Trump University program was devoted to helping people gain real estate skills and knowledge.

Today, it’s clear that Trump University was far from charitable. In fact, Trump University’s real estate seminars often didn’t provide that much education; at some seminars, it seemed like the instructors aimed to do little more than bilk money from people who dreamed of successful real estate careers. Lawyers eventually filed three separate lawsuits from 2010 to 2013 against Trump University for, among other claims, “deceptive practices. Trump agreed to pay a $25 million settlement to the people who attended Trump University.

    Cheers!

Thank you as you just posted it was real estate educational PROGRAM not an "University" in the normal sense.  And anyone in that program knew that as well.  But I do not blame them for taking a possible payout if they participated in it and were eligible.

No different than the people who sued Red Bull cause it did not "give them wings." This post was edited by my2cents at March 24, 2025 8:19 AM MDT

Trump listed and called it a University – but a scam by any other name is still a scam. Cheers!

It says real estate PROGRAM. He named it Trump University.   Not the same thing as an university.  And anyone with the money to pay for it should have known.

University have specific requirements for students to take and they vary as to the subject. ie. So many math, science, arts etc.
A real estate program  might satisfy one credit towards those but it would never be a university in the actual sense.  And anyone who attended thinking it was had more money than brains.

There have long been law on the books requiring citizemship to vote in Federal elections.  Trump is simply saying enforce it.

The scariest part is when you realize that people without educations were more likely to vote for Trump. I'm not saying intelligent people didn't vote for him. I'm saying that that if you look specifically at uneducated voters, they leaned right. Meanwhile, educated voters leaned left.

He's not just causing chaos and using innocent children as props. He's attempting to secure a republican majority for generations to come. This was not about improving education at all. It was about keeping wealth and power with the 1%.

There are plenty of sources that prove what I'm saying, but I'll preemptively add a couple:
