Discussion»Questions»Human Behavior» If Donald Trump were to order me to post that I've never mentioned grammar on AnswerMug, would it be ok for me to comply? ~
Hmm tough one that.. on the one hand, if you were military and were ordered to do something, you have to comply right? But on the other hand as a human being with a conscience.. it's hard to lie... I'll leave you with that dilemma!
Ahh didn't know that.. you can tell I've never been in the military can't you :P I thought soldiers have to do as they are bidden.. now I know differently. Ahh but, is lying about posting about grammar unlawful :P
Actually, it results from the Nuremberg Trials wherein many of the accused used the "I was only following orders" defense. After that, the US military began extensive training to drill into its servicemembers' mindests that if ordered to do something that is blatantly and/or outright illegal, that particular order could be refused without detriment to the person receiving the order. And yes, joking about grammar is permitted, but falsehoods about it are strictly verboten. For example, I have heard some people say that grammar is not very important . . . (Randy D shivers violently at the mere thought of it.)
