Well,  I came upon a car that had it's engine on fire. The owner had the hood (bonnet) open and flames were coming from the carburetter. I was in a big truck, so I jumped out with fire extinguisher in hand. I did not use it, however. I leaned over the engine AND BLEW THE FLAMES OUT!  I know that sounds impossible, but I did it. Just like Superman or something. The owner didn't even thank me.

I accidentally drove off a bridge.

I walked away with no injury and I think it's funny now.

    I hate when that happens!

How the heck do you accidentally drive off a bridge?

If he were still alive, you could ask Senator Ted Kennedy.

I never thought of the similarity of my experience and Kennedy's.

I was alone in my car, though. And I landed in a corn field.

...and you did not have anything to contribute to someone's murder because you never reported it.  Or at least were highly suspect.

It's a shame that the highly talented in government still have these flaws to carry on and mess up everyone's future.  He at least was a great Senator when he got his act together.

    Hilarious

Although this has nothing to do with your comment, tom, I thought you'd might like to see the only Kennedy pic I have saved.

Well, to be specific - - the bridge was relatively short in length. At the exact place the bridge ends, the road takes an immediate and very abrupt turn to the left. I had driven this road this road before and mentally was thinking I was at a different part of the road and I came upon the bridge unexpectedly. The speed limit of the bridge is 15 miles per hour. When I zoomed onto the bridge, I was going 55mph. I knew I couldn't manage the turn at the end of the short bridge, so I just kept the car heading straight forward -- I drove off the road and flew into the air and smash-landed in a cornfield. It wasn't a big drop --  maybe 50 feet? I'm unsure.

You're right, LyricalOne! If I think about the experience for lengths of time, as I did in retelling the experience here, I can only come to the same conclusion you did.

The experience does tend to be an interesting conversation piece at times. But, you're right, when writing it out or talking about it, the nastiness potential always hits me. I'm grateful things turned out the way they did.

You're great, Shar to the Rona!

Unless this really happened, then it's scary! It's just I thought you were joking because the way you wrote it sounds similar to the text/word choice rhythm I used in my answer.

It happened.  It happened so fast, I had no time to be scared.  One minute I was on this dark mountain road and the next I was on the ground and I cannot remember how deep that ravine was but the car landed upside down.  LOL

No hurt at all to me, the car was totaled.  I guess that is why it wasn't funny.
