Do you kill bugs that are in your home or do you put them outside?

I have a habit of putting spiders, flies and insects outside.
I just grab some tissue pick up the little lost soul and put it outside to live the rest of it's life cycle in freedom, LoL.
I caught myself holding the door open for a fly at work the other day.
Sometimes the tissue kills them it's not always perfect, but most people I'm around just kill everything that moves and I feel a little shocked like I just witnessed a murder.
Do you kill bugs or try to save and relocate them?

LOL I wondered if the tissue might accidentally hurt them! So I think that answers your question about what I do? I have a special little hoover thingy... well, I have two, and it sucks them up gently and puts them in a chamber where you can then carry them outside...

If  I don't have time to access the hoover thingy... I will get a glass and a piece of paper.. that was used today when I unintentionally brought in a spider..

We don't have snakes.. and all that gets in apart from that is flies.. I try to let them  out. I have a screen door and screens on the windows so most things don't get in...I prefer that option but will try to get them outside if not. Except false black widow spiders.. I am afraid I have declared war on them

It depends on how ugly/ freaky/ poisonous they are and how difficult they are to catch. Spiders die. I've never seen a roach in my house, but I've killed them in other homes. Most beetles die. Mosquitoes die. Moths and butterflies tend to get relocated. Flies have a 50/50 shot.

  • I guess in Canada everything freezes and dies in the winter so the bugs we get are never as big as what you probably have down in Arizona.
Ugly bugs probably need your love the most, LoL!

If they found their way in, they can find their way out. They don't need me to escort them. If they annoy me (meaning flies and mosquitoes), they're toast.

We engage in a staring contest and if they don't back down, it's the swatter or the paper towel and goodnight.

         For friendly looking spiders
i catch them in a plastic container
and transfer to the back yard
    Spiders that lunge at me
I stomp them...and pray for them
to be a butterfly in their next life.
Flies in the garage that could make it to the inside
of the house I open garage door and help them to exit the garage.
Flies inside the house bug me
so they usually get swatted if I can't get them to go out
    the garden door.
Again, Always with a little prayer saying sorry to take your life
and wish for them to be a butterfly in their next life...LOL

Any bugs I catch I feed 'em to the cat. He eats most bugs.

    Depends on the "bug".

Friendly and beneficial ones like honey bees, mantids, lady bugs and spiders always get a pass.

Dangerous bugs (wasps, yellow jackets, hornets), nuisance bugs and bugs known to carry disease (flies) are toast with the exception of ants (and my neighbor's chihuahua). Those get a pass because one of my kids likes the ants and, well, it's my neighbor with the chihuahua. This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at August 26, 2017 9:46 PM MDT

I put them outside, mosquitoes get squished though. I get really upset when people kill spiders, unless it's something like a brown recluse.

Bugs die (spiders are not bugs). Mosquitoes and flies are vectoes for deadly diseases, so it's kill or be killed. My daughter is terrified of cockroaches, so those get fed to the spiders. Spiders I leave alone, unless my wife sees one and freaks out - then I take it outside. Otherwise I let it do its job - eating bugs.

    Not all insects are bugs.

Picky, picky. People were including spiders on this thread and they're not even insects.

Sadly flies for the most part disappear in the house. As for spiders I let them be they help kill other pests however as for the unwanted ones that were outside and came inside like fleas, termites, bedbugs they get whacked. In fact there is a war between fleas and I and they are winning for now.

  • If I should see any bugs in my residence, I would kill them. Just taking them outside often means that they return to irritate you. I have a friend who is a genius who writes books and illustrates them. He made drawings of me for one of his books. He is a martial artist-boxer-powerlifter. A few flies were in his home. He caught them with his hands. I could not do that. They are too fast for me to catch them, but he did it easily. He told me that his speed was tested electronically and that he was measured as being 17 times as fast as anyone else tested. If flies ever enter my residence, I will call upon Garrett to catch them for me.
