    I grew up a Democrat and was pretty much one for over forty years. What happened was the Democrats got more and more far out and left wing until they lost all sense of what is practical and do-able.  So although my beliefs and views never changed I eventually found they were "Republican" beliefs rather than Democratic.

    I am a registered Democrat, but I have voted Republican if and when I dealt that candidate had better ideas that could actually come to fruition.  I'm facing that issue now in NYC with the mayoral election.  I cannot abide Bill Di Blasio and will vote for almost anyone else.
