The AnswerMug Challenge Series, You Gave Me A Bad Name Edition: Cain, Chester, Jack, Jezebel, John, Judas, Mark . . .

What are some first names that potentially carry with them a negative connotation, either because of an infamous person or persons having had those names in the past, or because of an expression/adage/saying/colloquialism associated with the name?

EXAMPLES:

Father didn't return home on time, it turns out he was involved in a police raid at a cathouse and was arrested for being one of the johns

You dirty coppers ain't hangin' dis bum rap on me; I may be a crook, but I ain't nobody's patsy. I don't never take the fall for somethin' somebody else done, only for what I done myself, see?

She'll go out with just about any and every Tom, Dick and Harry off the streets, but she's too good to go out with me?

Listen, I know it's your first time on an airplane, but you don't have to be such a nervous Nellie.

RULES:

1. As shown in the first two examples, lowercase words that correspond with names can be used.

2. Slang terms may be used.

3. Names and/or name-words from any language may be used, but if you use a foreign expression that might be unfamiliar to the average English-speaker, please include a translation or a brief explanation.

4. Keep it as clean as possible: this is a family show.

5. Have fun!

Your "John is a bad name" example is quite a reach.

Here in Denmark Sivert is a boys name. Christian Sievert is a fairly famous guitarist here but it sounds wimpy even though his playing sound good. https://youtu.be/u9M9TS4akX8

Sue is definitely not not the best name for a boy but that too is a traditional boys name in Scandinavia (pronounced Su-e) This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at December 24, 2017 8:11 AM MST

It's quite possible that you've either misread or misunderstood the point of the post.

Not a first name, but all the relatives of Adolph Hitler decided not to make babies, so the name Hitler would disappear from the world.

Thank you for the information, but this post specifically refers to first names, not surnames.

I'm not asking about weird names, Sharonna. I'm asking about names with bad or negative connotations.

Oh.  Gee, thanks.  I didn't know that.

It doesn't hurt you to ask.  That doesn't mean I will give you what you want.  Is this a surprise all of a sudden?

When do I ever give you what you want?  How boring is that?

Dick would have been my first choice, but you had to bogart that one.

Beulah does have negative connotations.  It sounds like a freaking WITCH with a wart at the end of her green nose.

And Herschel?  It sounds like someone with a green tooth.

Trust me, you don't want those names.

    The end.

    That's better.

I am the rightful Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and the Mother of Dragons. The Breaker of Chains, the Kaleesi and the last Targaryon

God I love Game of Thrones.

I've never seen even one minute of one episode. (I know that learning this makes you hate me.  Sorry.)

No.  Randy.  NO.  The exact opposite.  I don't know how to be a nerd.  I think I am so cool?  (In my mind only, of course) but that is my ego.  I think I am sooo cool.  But really?  I am a freaking NERD.  I love Lord of the Rings.  I mean, who likes that?  I love Game of Thrones.  I am embarrassed.  No one gets this.  I have no one to share my ecstacy.  I live with a Star Wars gamer person.  He has zero interest.  I mean he is a Libra too.  This is not a show for you.  I only wish I could find a mind like yours that is watching this.  AG would be perfect but she has the nerve to be getting married now.

Of all the times.  She didn't even ask me about this.

I cannot wait to reach her and congratulate her.

    I'm babbling.
No, I totally understand why you don't care about Game of Thrones.  But I actually live in that show mentally and Dune and Lord of the Rings.  That is why I don't get anything done in reality.  I'm too busy.

I've got too many rooms to walk through before I even land on this planet.

And my best friend, A VIRGO that is almost the same as a Libra.  But they are much more industrious, that lot.

Anyway, I know you are very, industrious.  I count you as the faction of Libras born more in the middle or end of October.  Those are the ones that have energy to spare.  But the first part of Libra?  OH.  They are lazy.  Let me just leave it at that.

Hey, I don't bend your ear like this much, so I know you might be reading this.  Actually.

If I did this every day?  You would tune it out in one day.

    1. I read every word you write; I don't want to miss one single thrilling episode of the Sharna Chronicles. You know that I love you as my sister from another mister.

    2. I immediately thought of AG as I read, and lo and behold, you mentioned her. I and you think exactly alike. (Hey, wait . . . )

Ahhh. I answered you.  I had this nice picture and everything.  I posted it and got an error message and pfffftttt.  It disappeared.

Honest, it wasn't really that thrilling; hard to believe as that may be.

(was that a clear one? Did that pass muster? Yes, Randy, I do believe it does.

    Thanks, 99.

As I wrote that?  I was already thinking of my audience on here.  I figured no one would even remotely get why I would pick a name that is nowadays totally acceptable.  I mean on a black man?  That name sounds very cool.  Or even on someone who hales from the country from whence that name derived.  Do you know?   I certainly do not.

Anyway, why I picked Herschel.  I had an  old person's memory for a delightful minute.  I went back to when I was 25 and I had a boyfriend that used that as a name for a hick.

And he would say this insane line.  When he was trying to insult someone and call him a hillbilly or something a 23 year old moron would say, he would say (here goes) "Herschel, you got a green tooth.  He would yell this at someone that would not shut up.  He would just say that sentence in their face over and over.

God I loved that guy.  Merry Christmas, Mickey.  (he's dead)

So, that was a private name that would give Randy NO answer he was seeking.

That was my reason de 'etre.

If you understand this, you have more than 40 mil. of thc in your system.

Keep reading.  You and everyone else are answering me.  It is amazing how I can just let this flow.  I believe I am tapping into some radiant energy that is trying to transform me.

Here's why.  A few weeks ago, I had two Sai Baba ladies come over.  One gave me lingam water.  Now, this is true and you just have to trust me on this one.  I do not make this stuff up.  Literally, there is an entire world out there of Sai Baba devotees.

So, I like to share this with people here and there to keep it fresh in MY mind.

Let me tell you this.  She gave me lingam water from a saint who manifests stones that appear out of her forhead when she meditates about Sai Baba.

Well, Margaret, one of my Sai sisters, was here and left me water that was poured over one of those stones.

    I drank some.

Funny, it only works if I access it on this particular wavelength.  Like it is saying: Hey?  Here is where you belong and you will settle for nothing but this state.  So, we warn you, if you desire a place this lofty, much will be lost.  Much has to be lost for you to remain here.  How can you feel this way, when you are burdened with needless worry?  Why do you equate worry and pain as something you need to walk through each and every time an obstacle stands in your intent-path?

That obstacle was put there by ME.  I am the reason for the obstacle.
