Discussion»Questions»Legal» Do signs that say “Trespassers will be shot! Survivors will be shot again!” actually make it legal to kill anyone that crosses the line?
But if they shoot at you can shoot back. Then call the cops. Dont fix the bullet holes in whatever they hit before the cops arrive, they need those bullet holes for evidence that you were shot at.

No more legal than bars or stores saying hand over your bags at the entrance but we are not liable for theft. In other words signs can be made to say whatever but whatever may not be legal. You can obey the sign and then sue them for breaking the law.
I hope not but possibly? In Texas, purple paint on a sign or fence post means no trespassing. Some rural areas may be less forgiving for ignorance of that. Just googled that 'it started out in Arkansas in 1989 as a way for property owners to notify the public of private land and in 1997, the state of Texas adopted the law.'
Some think that 'no soliciting' means no trespassing but it don't, just can't sale or likely ask for anything.
How about a sign saying "Religious missionizers will be evicted, by whatever means nessesarry." ? It is really awful when those people come again, and again, and AGAIN, and AGAIN , and AGAIN , ...
That would work. A Wiccan that used to live across the street from us had a sign that said: "No soliciting No witnessing No Kidding." You can also ask them to put you on something called something like a 'do not call' list. I think then every year or two, two elders check to see if there is a new occupant, but not sure?
Most people are ignorant as to what the Bible really says and the time period that we are in. (Mt 24:37-39) Out of love for neighbor, some witness to them. Like the guy working Cape Race on the Titanic, they are too busy or not interested. There were warnings given to the Titanic prior to striking the iceberg by a nearby ship the Californian. The responce was "Shut up, shut up, I am busy; I am working Cape Race".
Also a bit annoying when ice skating on a frozen pond and then someone warns you about a section of thin ice.
Missouri has the purple paint law also. But I have learned city people don't know what it means. We had a dog bite someone. Our dog was on his chain and the lady passed the purple paint to get by our dog. The lawyer our insurance company gave us knew nothing about the purple paint law. Our defense was she trespassed so we were not liable under MO law. The lawyer wanted to settle rather than go to court. I thought it was stupid...but it was the insurances money. Is it true that in TX a land owner can shoot you for trespassing?

Don't think so if only trespassing outside on your pasture or lawn but perhaps if they are attempting to break in to your home and you fear for your life or maybe steeling a horse? I am pretty sure that if they actually break in to your house you can shoot though, trespassing sign or not.
Ok, I had heard it was legal for tresspassing in general. A guy I know lived there a long time ago and said even police had to worry about going up to some of these little old ladies houses cause they would shoot at them.
I don't really know. I used to subscribe to several fishing magazines. I read an article once about some river close to the border where land owners that had land on both sides thought they owned the water and would shoot at people going down the river. Don't know how much of a problem that was but I know you don't own the water in lakes and rivers here.
Signs don't mean people won't take their chances. If the sign is true, and there is a blast waiting for them, then they crapped out. Defending ones property by shooting an intruder here won't protect the property owner from prosecution unless the intruder forces his/her way into the property owner's habitat wielding a weapon to inflict bodily harm.
