"Christians are so much unlike Christ" Gandhi said.  Wonder what he meant by that?

Not at all. Non-belief and secularism is on the rise worldwide. Even the Pope has publicly recognized the “threat of secularism”, to his version of the what the world should be.
Some surveys have put atheism and irreligiosity at 23% of the US population (about the same as Catholicism), higher in places in Europe. There countless studies that have shown religiosity is inversely proportional to the level of a given demographic’s education. In fact it has been estimated 93% of the top minds in the Sciences are not believers.
Not coincidentally, Apostasy is on the rise in the Muslim world as well, as even more members of those cultures begin to openly question their dogmas.
“Religion is recognized by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.”  -Seneca the Younger

It appears humanity is ever-so-slowly raising it’s collective head out of the muck of backward superstition. This post was edited by Don Barzini at May 10, 2018 6:40 AM MDT

Interesting that for religion to flourish it needs a high birth rate, indoctrnation and a relatively low level of education whereas atheism only needs education, in other words how to think, not what to think.

Or just the opportunity and initiative to think...

After indoctrination the opportunity may be there but by that time sadly the very ability to think against what has been drummed into them is lacking.

Atheism, latest fast growing religion, or is it a cult like the rest of religions? This post was edited by Autumnleaves at June 7, 2018 12:06 AM MDT

Atheism is like a no-name brand because it is not a religion and cheaper and just as good if not BETTER than any religion. This post was edited by Kittigate at June 7, 2018 12:25 AM MDT

Ok but the mind of the atheist is generally not pickled in the kind of juice of what the Religious Right powers-that-be like to promote.
