I call it "verbal flatulence". Just because all humans have the ability to do it does not mean that it's appropriate in any and all situations, places, times, etc. Just like flatulence, it can be controlled.

Well it happens doesn't it? And has become very common in daily life so you have to expect it. I don't think it shows much breeding or any great imagination but then would guess people who do it just want to express themselves and aren't even thinking about such things. I try to refrain but on occasion I do indulge as well but mostly when no one else is around.
I swear I don't know.....it's a bit of a bugger to get my head round actually....Of course language ,can be a bit of a profanity I've heard at times...:(
It can be effective to emphasize a statement. However, when someone cusses "all the time" it looses it's emphasis ... and just becomes ridiculous.
Personally, my attention is gained more by someone using "original cussing" than actual cussing. I don't mean "dang" instead of "damn". I mean something like "Athena's nickers". Then I'm like "Whaaaat?!? lol" but it gets my attention.
It's OK for sailors when their ship is on the high seas and they are trying to get something done and you and the stuff you are trying to work with are bouncing around and being knocked around all over the place. By the end of the day you might have more work to do than there was when you first started. 'Cuss like a sailor' -now you know why.
