    It's a few miles away,
but if I get a very tall ladder,
maybe....See? and listen to the waves...see?

I live a short distance to a river that dumps into Lake Erie. Lake Erie is just a little higher than Lake Ontario and Ontario is just a bit higher than the Atlantic Ocean. According to my property survey, I am sitting about 600 feet above sea level.  Perhaps this is more information than you need?

  • Do/did you guys still say, "At sea," if you're on an ocean?  And the phrase ... From sea to shining sea.  Which sea is the shining one?  :)

Yes...at sea is the traditional way of saying it. At least it was when was in. All seas shine under the right conditions. Look at Randy's pic above.

  • Ah!  So they just wrote that song when the lighting was bad over one of the seas.  Oh dummy me.  :) This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at September 25, 2018 6:17 PM MDT

  • Hmmm ...  I just figured I hadn't been to the right mountains yet, but you're right ... the Blue Ridge Mountains aren't blue either.  All these years it's been nothing but lies!

I can't see the sea from where I live, but I have been to places where I can see the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
