I've not had the good fortune to have been handed a restraining order .... yet! I am working on it though :P

I think its too bad that seemingly many people just don't know how to get on with people.  But as long as anyone seeks to impose their will upon another through threats and violence and harm there will be such orders issued.

I'm glad that recent statistics on domestic violence have led to a doubling of the time and distance of such orders, a lowering of the threshold at which orders are imposed, and an increase in the severity of convictions for breaches.

The fewer people who are injured, disfigured, maimed or murdered (by their spouses, ex's, parents or adult children) the better.
