    Trust is earned not given.

In family relationships, the most important things are trust and loyalty.

    Trust, but verify.

Mmm. I agree with your first and third.

Great that you have nurtured a family which is good at trust and loyalty.
Probably one of the best things anyone can achieve. :)

Trust is the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. I trust that the sun will rise every day. I trust that tomorrow will be another day.

I think trust is believing what you see, hear, feel, taste, or smell to be real.
I trust I am seeing the table my computer is sitting on.
I trust I am hearing Hawaii Five-O on the TV right now.
I trust I will feel the sheets when I go to bed (which will be soon. :))
I trust I will taste the toddy I am about to pour.
I trust I will smell the coffee tomorrow morning.
    I trust Don.
I trust all five of my senses and my heart.  They make my reality.  I trust that.

    Beautiful.
I also trust my senses to keep me sane and in touch with reality.
And with that, everything else follows naturally.
Trusting the heart, your emotions - takes wisdom to do that. :)

Thank you Nom de Plume.  You also are very wise.  It does open the question to "what is real."  But that is a discussion that every one has a different perspective on.
You're a great person who brings many insights and fun to this family.  I'm very glad  you are here.
A step I try not to overlook but I may have.  If not, I can't say it enough,
Welcome!  It is joy to have you here. :) :)

Belief in the veracity of another. I trust my better half absolutely, and she rewards that by deserving it - one of her lady friends once descibed her as "the most faithful wife she'd ever heard of, much less met".

When I "trust" someone it means I think they are responsible.  Socially, personally, financially, emotionally.  However it is not anything I go around pushing or discussing.  I think for many people "trust" is an extension of their arrogance in expecting that people are going to always guess what act how they expect them to act.  But everyone has his or her own interest and people are just people.

Ok, let's say I leave a satchel full of tildes with you for safekeeping, and I nether count them beforehand nor when I pick them up again. No, wait; that would never happen because why would I leave my tildes with you?  Ewwww.
Starting all over again. Imagine that I have a platter full of sandwiches that I need to leave with you for safekeeping . . .

Tildes are far too precious to leave around for just anyone but you can have some of mine ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Your platter of sandwiches is wrapped in wax paper and ket in the fridge for you till the end of today. After that I'd have to remake them with fresh ingredients so if you let me know what they are, I'll keep them in stock. At your service, sir. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I trust you've heard of supports for Hernias....or the need for robbers to trust up their victims.....
Your Possessions are then held in Trust  by them until further notice....:)D

    How do you make sure?
    Do you test them?
Do you just wait and see how it works out over time?
