    Yes they do.  It's just not called that  but very rarely.  Today it is known as a state-of-normalcy.

    Hi Beans! :)  Sad but True.  Exactly!!
     Many DO have that "I don't care. Really.  About you. Me. The Earth.  I am just a vessel moving through time and space" look.  What really worries me is when I look over to the car next to me at a stop light and see a person with that expression.  Yikes!!     May depend what you mean by space out.
    People still take all kinds of recreational drugs, especially younger people experimenting, and some of those have "spacey" effects.
    Some people dissociate in various ways when stressed. When this happens they seem spaced out, vague or disconnected from present reality.
    Some people have attitudes and beliefs that are out of touch with reality and highly dysfunctional - yet they're not clinically insane.

    .... Almond Joy's got nuts... mounds dont.  Mounds has got real milk chocolate... ya, ya, ya, and crunchy coconut too, Almond Joy's got nuts and mounds don't....
