YES!! What a great movie to me! The movie, and this entire scene, and the scene that leads up to it, is a big reason why crows are such a favorite to me, ha!
In fact, the scene right before this is, if I had to choose, THE Most Perfect Movie Scene I've ever seen. I love how Hitchcock shows us on screen only what he wants us to see. And when he wants us to see it. And there is no dialogue, only "Melanie Daniels" smoking a cigarette and she is terribly concerned. And all the while we hear the children singing that song, over and over, it repeats . . . wondrous! :)
I like the movie a lot, too! I again watched the attack scene you posted. I know of several people who mention the effects here aren't that believable but I've always been able to just experience the scene as the frightening scene it is. :)
I love crows. According to Konrad Lorenz, they have up to 40 different calls each with a specific meaning, can work out complex problems, and are social and trainable. I'd love to have a couple as pets.
Subjectively, I've always attached to them the human emotion of an "In-Your-Face" kind of self-confidence. Like, "Yeah. I'm here. What are you going to do about it?" I love that about them - - even if it's just me giving them a human emotion.
The actual facts about them you've shared are cool! :) Thanks!
Those trees have an amazing ability to survive in harsh conditions. Have you been to the ancient bristlecone pine forest? I've been there twice and love the eastern Sierras.
