No ... just close. I've spent a lot of time traveling around in the Eastern Sierras ... Bishop, Lee Vining, Death Valley. Never saw a Bristlecone Pine tree in person though. Did you have to hike up there or is there a road? The Sierra Nevada Mountains hold a lot of beautiful scenery. :)

From Big Pine, there is a road that goes up to the visitor's center. You can do a short hike and see some of the younger trees (several hundred to a couple of thousand years old) but to see the real ancient trees, you will need to hike the Methuselah trail. Of course the elevation makes it more challenging if you aren't acclimated.
I've traveled all through that area as well to hike; I visit that area about three times a year. I'm actually headed to Bishop this weekend to do the Kearsarge Pass trail and get my alpine hike on :)
Everything. From the earthy smell of soil after a rain shower, to the farthest galaxies.

The tap water was like that where I lived in Washington. It also left a ton of deposit in coffee maker. I had to clean it every couple of weeks. I never found out what it actually was.
Well I find it fascinating that a 200 foot tree can get water up to their top with out a diesel pump (they use the wick effect or capillary action). I find slugs marvellous - there would be no Red wood forests if it wasn't for slugs. And I find birds beautiful. Cheers!
We do have Banana slugs but mostly black and brown slugs. Seems to me 20 - 30 years ago we had way more banana slugs then the black and brown ones so I'm wondering if their dying off because - maybe their more sensitive to UV rays or a unnatural predator was introduced to the Island. Cheers!

I always thought lightning was really cool. I wouldn't want to be outside when it's close though. I've seen trees and power poles get struck right outside my house. It's quite amazing, but frighteningly powerful.

A mighty oak tree spreading its branches to give shade, hummingbirds which defy gravity, wildflowers growing by the side of a road which multiply without any care other than what nature provides, a clear midnight sky which displays the constellations in wild abandon and the miracle of birth.
"What A Wonderful World" lyrics Louis Armstrong Lyrics "What A Wonderful World"
I see trees of green Red roses too I see them bloom For me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue And clouds of white The bright blessed day The dark sacred night And I think to myself What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow So pretty in the sky Are also on the faces Of people going by I see friends shaking hands Saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying "I love you"
I hear babies cry I watch them grow They'll learn much more Than I'll never know And I think to myself What a wonderful world
I marvel at all living things. To me the sea and mountains are beautiful, especially where they meet each other. I am fascinated by the endless variety within the endless repetition in the patterns that leaves make in the sunlight.
