Hello:

Trump HAS the courts..  He HAS a feckless congress.  He HAS an armed and angry base..  If he declares himself President for Life, who's gonna stop him?

He'll have to get a cool uniform first.

  • Turkey and Russia seem to have that now, but they had much weaker democracies that were likely to devolve. I don't believe we are that far gone.

No way soon the FBI will  snatch the pebble from Trumps hand. Cheers!

Why would he or anyone else want the job for life? Life is much easier and more pleasant for former presidents.

It’s typical hysteria and hyperbole from a far side of the political spectrum. Next time we have a democrat as president the far right will be acting this way. I remember several far right conservatives saying Obama was going to be president for at least one more term. I tend to ignore questions like this.

Possibly - given his unhealthy lifestyle, he could well suffer a fatal heart attack when articles of impeachment are submitted next year. If he dies in office, he's been president for life, no? This post was edited by Slartibartfast at October 7, 2018 4:10 PM MDT

I'm sure you meant "if." He is unlikely to be impeached if the GOP retains control of Congress. It is possible the Democrats will take over, but it is no sure thing.

No, when. The GOP is headed for a train wreck at the midterms. There aren't enough of them up for reelection to guarantee a Democrat majority in both Houses, but the savageness of the swing way well sway enough Republicans to vote that way, particularly as more than a few are already vacillating.

You can't guarantee that. We'll just have to wait and see.

Ya but maybe he diverted funds from FEMA to fund a program that is working on a way to keep his head alive in a glass jar - like that Nixon head in a glass jar on the Simpsons. Cheers!

Nope. He will be a 2 term President.
I am armed but I am not angry.

Extreme right tried to claim the same about President Obama saying he would declare marshal law and remain President. Did not happen and it is not gonna happen with President Trump.

There are plenty who would stand against such a move.

He won't be a two term President, he'll be impeached before the end of his first. Unless they section-four him for mental unfitness, or one of his frequent rages brings on a fatal bout of apoplexy.

Not gonna happen. The Trump Wave coming this Nov will squash any hope the Dems have of such a dream.  The House and Senate will remain Red.
When it happens remember I told you so just like I told everyone Trump was gonna win the Presidency.

There is still a matter of the Constitution. Until that is invalidated, I’m not concerned about Trump having such ambitions.

Thank you! Someone who understands for a refreshing change. Between the citizens and constitution he’ll have a difficult time. Eventually the democrats will also take over at least the house or senate, if not both. We tend to go back and forth between both parties.

We observe that the Trump “base” is not a majority of Americans, 60% still do not approve of his performance, and he is not gaining new converts. The whole circus is laughable.

I remember that Trump lost the popular vote in ‘16 by over three million votes, to a badly flawed candidate. Will he be so lucky to face another... hard to imagine.

One thing I’m sure of, Trump’s presence in the next election will ensure it won’t be a thing of beauty.
