How frequently do you gamble at casinos, if at all?
I gambled once when I went with a group of friends. I played Blackjack for three hours. I only took $40 and left with $80. The other two times I went I ate and drank some beers watching sports. I‘m not a fan of gambling. It isn’t for me.
Not much of a gambler at all other than the lottery when the pot gets large enough. I have been to Las Vegas where I played the slots, but the trip was to visit a friend, not to gamble. I've gone to the horse tracks and done pretty well there, but haven't been in a really long time.
"As frequently as my route would take me to Las Vegas, S. Lake Tahoe, Laughlin, Sparks or Reno." Dodging four-wheelers loses it's luster after a while and a trucker needs entertainment too. Plus truckers also have a strange attraction to all-you-can-eat buffets.
So I won't be seeing you in Heaven, but all my trucker friends and I will be thinking of you!
I do not gamble at casinos (waste of money). The only time I gamble is when I drive downtown (these streets were designed in the mid 1800's for a single horse and buggy, not trucks and SUVs side-by-side).
Yep, that looks a lot like Main Street all right.. except here cars park on both sides and the road is paved. Although the cobblestone look went well with the gold mining theme of the town, they decided to get rid of it back in the late 70's.
Sorry to here that. This is somewhere in New York. The picture I was looking for and couldn't find was of Pittsburg. Just before the warehouse district there's a cobblestone road that allows parking on each side and when that occurs it becomes a one lane road. :)
Very rarely. I've been to casinos before, in Vegas, Reno, and Stateline, Nevada. Most of those times I didn't gamble, but my friend once won $800. I thought that was pretty cool. I've played slot machines before and won small amounts, but nothing significant.
Love to go but hardly get there more than twice a year. I set a dollar limit to what I can afford to lose like 20 bucks. If I win I can not gamble it all away. I usually only lose few dollars and may come out a few dollars richer. I love the slots like my Moma;)
Studied any Hebrew? Or exegesis? Firstly, "troop" and "fortune" are poor translations (the KJV scholars brought a plethora of preconceived notions and prejudices to the job of translation - homophobic, misogynistic and anti-Semitic). Secondly, consider when and where the passage was written, to whom and for what reason. The immediate post-exilic period, the construction of the second Temple had just begun and many of the recently liberated Israelites were practising syncretism, having picked up some cultural cross-infection from the Babylonians. Gad and Meni were actual Chaldean gods, not euphemisms for gambling, and drink offerings were frequently poured out before their avatars (idols). The writer is upbraiding his people for idolatry.
