Was Lucifer and his follower angels thrown to earth before or after the creation of Adam?

There is real value in the social fellowships common to religious in-group activities and the sharing of traditions, no matter how one feels about the particulars of the cause. As a wise man once said, “No man is an island“.
Another wise man once said, “Question everything.“

These two are not mutually exclusive.

As with many other myths, there are no translatable timelines for the appearance or existences of important characters. To believe, for instance, that the ”world” was made in 6 days, is to embrace a level of unfettered naïveté that would allow for the free acceptance of other dubious, unsubstantiated claims. It is in this mindscape that claims of Lucifer/Satan/et al, hold their influence.

Lucifer, as an ideal, was drawn from similar deities found in previous religions by other names, but the currently recognized version was cobbled together about the time of the Babylonian Exile of the Jewish ancestors, called the Judahites, in the 7th century BCE. The character‘s persona and influence were subsequently crafted and asserted through the Middle Ages as an agent (or THE agent) of destruction and fear. Most notably in literary works such as Dante’s “Inferno”.

It would not be stretch to surmise Adam was invented first, out of ignorance of human anthropological history, and the resultant Creation story was progressed to a need for an antagonist to the benevolent God, so an evil character, representing the antithesis of that God, was employed as a scapegoat for man’s infirmities. It was easy to graft such a character from ancient Egyptian (Set or Seth) or Sumerian (Enki) beliefs to fill that role. This post was edited by Don Barzini at October 22, 2018 7:57 PM MDT

Satan and his demons were ousted from the heavens when Jesus Christ was enthroned as the messianic king. (Revelation 12:1-12)long after Adam and eve existed. This post was edited by Autumnleaves at October 25, 2018 12:01 AM MDT

Wrong. Ha-satan "the Accuser" was "going to and fro in the earth, and walking up and down on it" (Job 1:7) many centuries before the birth of Christ. Also the Hebrew word "Nephelim" can either be translated as "giants" or "fallen", it appears in Gen 6:1-4 and Ezekiel 32:27.

Wrong? At the time that Satan and his demons would go to and fro, they had not been ousted from the heavens once they were ousted, they were banned permanently from ever returning. For this reason the prophecy at revelation states earth and its inhabitants would suffer woes since Satan has come down to make war with Jehovah's serveants (Revelation 12:12) This post was edited by Autumnleaves at October 27, 2018 12:27 AM MDT

The timeline would only show that he rebelled when he showed up as the serpent (shining one) in the garden of Eden and tempted Eve and Adam in the fall, which means Adam and Eve had been created. The Quran says that the angels refused to bow down to Adam which again suggests that Adam existed. This post was edited by kjames at October 27, 2018 1:59 AM MDT
