  • Because the term is used in many fields of the entertainment industry, such as music, film making, baseball, boxing and all reported by journalists that love making-up catch phrases that may imply either success or failure ... "I believe the originator will never get a patent on it."

    This goes back to at least 1914, as here from the New York newspaper The Middletown Daily Times-Press, July 1914 - in a piece titled One-hit wonder fails to hold locals down:  (baseball game)

    Punch ....From the Punch and Judy shows.....once Female rights came about and with the introduction of the new COSH regulations....Poor ole Punch had to live in fear of and Judy with her own COSH....:)

    COSH  Regalations came into force many years ago in England...every office glad to comply with them ...I'm not sure what they stand for now and never ever took any notice if things like that....:)
