Do people think you are dumber or smarter than you appear to be?

I doubt if people bother much to think about me at all - they are more likely to be most concerned with their own issues and priorities.

If they did, probably most would judge based on what little experience they had of me.

Those closest know me well enough to have a reasonably accurate idea of my strengths and weaknesses. This post was edited by inky at January 28, 2019 5:43 PM MST

I have no idea what people think, you have to ask them.

  • People tend to assume that I'm smart because I look Asian. I am smart, but the Asianness is not why.

Apparently I look smart. Probably because I'm vaguely Asian and I'm also not very expressive like Spock or something. So obviously I must be super smart even though I have plenty of air-headed moments. At least I'm smart enough to realize when I'm being a nincompoop and feel embarrassed. I know some people that just get mad and try to blame everyone else for their own stupidity.

I appear smart when I act the fool and I fool around to appear even smarter in a different sort of way...:)

They definitely perceive me as dumber, which I don't mind, cos then I can show off...

A fun experiment: deliberately dumb-yourself-down to bait negative reactions, and then put the shoe on the other foot. :) ;)

To them, I would think I am just what I appear to be, no less, no more...but appearances can be deceiving, and so can perceptions.
