Are you going to sign the Petition to sell Montana to Canada?

I was just talking to my son that lives in Saskatchewan about a US petition to sell Montana to Canada for 1 trillion dollars to help ease the national dept. Montana is close to Saskatchewan and if the deal goes ahead my son is thinking about buying some land there. Cheers!

Looks like it may be a done deal,  about a million and a half people have already signed.
Google 'sell Montana to Canada' for more details.

No, I don't think it would happen...there would be countless lawsuits from land and business owners. The Federal government is supposed to protect the rights of it's citizens
"The right of the people to be secure in their person's, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures  shall not be violated....."
    4th amendment..
There are also 2 federal parks in Montana that I am not so sure the federal government would be willing to let go..
It is also my opinion that any money that goes to the treasury will be spent before it's counted, not used to pay any debt...

Ya but if we buy California would we have to give Trump the billions of dollars he wants back from the high speed rail? Cheers!

With only about 1 million people in the entire state, it would barely make a dent in the US population. But a few thousand bozos signing some wacko petition can't make something like that happen. It would require action by the US and Canadian governments. This post was edited by Stu Spelling Bee at February 20, 2019 8:33 PM MST

If it's unconstitutional (as some claim) for a state to leave the Union voluntarily ... and it's unconstitutional for the federal government to strip citizenship from citizens without a trial ... and slavery is unconstitutional ... I don't know how they would sell a state to another nation.

Most of what the federal government does is without constitutional authority.

Most folks I know in Montana would say: "Fine.  You don't want us?  We'll leave.  But we aren't going to Canada, either."

Since 2016?   There have been so many crimes committed against this rule of law the Constitution that there might as well be no Constitution.

    Long before 2016, in fact.
There are many federal agencies that have no authorization under the Constitution.
In fact, the Constitution specifically states when the federal government may own land - and it does not mention national forests or parks.  So most federal land ownership in the western US is unconstitutional.

    Please help me.

I want to start a petition to sell America to Canada.

Let's listen to Trudeau and forget this corrupt government.  Jail everyone that is a Trump supporter, and put that base in it's place.  They want America? Let them have it.

Let them have the north or the south or the east or the west.  Take it.  Wall your stupid selves off and let your leader rule you from jail.

You might as well take the West, Trump's base.  Take it.  You have destroyed half the area already with your listening to Trump blaming the state instead of concentrating on putting this NATIONAL DISASTER to rest.

Let them have the West with a wall keeping them IN.  I promise you, no one of any sanity will try and breach that wall.

  • No, but I'll clue ya in. It would be vastly cheaper to annex or purchase Mexico and make it the 51st state.

You don't shape the world in this manner.  It was a steal because it was purchased from a country who had property rights to that land.

We bought it for a steal.  Yes.  But it never belonged to Canada simply because it is in a good location for Canada.  I wish you were right.

  • No way!  Montana is a beautiful State.  We wouldn't want to lose that.  How about we just give Canada Trump.  If you ask him, you'd be getting the best deal ever made acquiring him and all his deal-making skills.
