Hello Franc533 I drive several vehicles. I have an older Jeep Cherokee. I love this car, 4wheel drive so no chains when I go to the mountains, easy to work on and comfortable. I also have 2 motorcycles. A 78 Kawasaki kz 650 and my 83' Honda Nighthawk, the one in my avatar here. I also have a 70 Buick Skylark gs, that is not running at this time, hope to have it done by summer, the silver Jeep is my daughter's
Hey there Don How do you like the motor home? As soon as I have some grand kids I would like to get a camper or motorhome, kind of leaning towards a camper, so we could un-hitch at a park and use a vehicle to drive around in...but a self contained seems to have it's advantages...
We love it. All the luxuries of home anywhere we want to drive. I have recently come to despise the trappings of air travel, and since there are more and better motorhome parks popping up all over, we can sate our Travel Jones without all that airport pain. We are retired, our “Big Bus” (my wife’s name for it) gives us a fantastic amount of impulse freedom, to just get up and go see the country. I have put about 12k miles on it in the last 2 years. It can sleep 7 comfortably, with every modern convenience on hand.
There are advantages to campers as you mention, no need to tow another runabout vehicle to make short runs (for supplies and sightseeing and such.) Class A’s are a bear to park sometimes. I think campers are especially useful if you can do with more basic accommodations. You need a good solid tow vehicle, like a 3/4 ton or better truck, so there is a considerable additional expense there.
Hey Don.. My Mother and her husband had a C class, but it was 44' with pop outs. It was very nice. I believe it was a Seneca. If I were married, I would think one of those '''big buses" would be nice. I love traveling and like you I do not like airline travel, I like to down on the road, seeing the sites, feeling the road. I do not have many, but one regret I do have is selling a mint condition 67 ford county squire, 9 passenger with the fold up jump seats in the back. I worked on that thing for over a year, even did the woodwork on the paneling, but with real veneer. The kids were getting embarrassed by it, so I sold it and bought a newer ford expedition..hated that plastic monstrosity. I would like to get another country squire with a vintage trailer...

Hey Designer, I can only speak highly of “the lifestyle” that motorhomes can afford, provided you have the time and willing accomplices, whatever style of accommodation you choose. Good luck with it, my friend.

Hey there Don... I plan to retire in about 5 years, that is when my house will be paid off and I can start drawing on my retirement. Maybe I'll have to find myself a wife... Thanks , I do value your life experience and how you have set yourself up for your retirement and thus, your friendly input on this.
I love that Bugaboo. My mother had a green one and I've always wanted one of my own. Maybe my next car would be a bug, preferably a convertible. They're so cute!
Convertibles are prone to rust, they weren't built that way. And parts are becoming harder to find and thus more expensive. Don't forget, you're buying a car that's 50 or more years old.
Unless you're talking about the rebooted "new beetle", I wouldn't waste my money on one. It's a VINO - that front-mounted east-west inline four isn't Volkswagen imo.
