This is delicious: those who opine that the US needs a woman as president and all ills will be automatically solved need only to look to

the scores of women throughout history who have been heads of state worldwide to know that gender has not gauranteed competence, fairness, values, morality, adherence to law,  etc. This is not to say that each and every woman has been terrible as the leader of her country, it merely points out that the people of those countries have not always been satisfied with those women's performances.

Israel
Germany
Nicaragua
Pakistan
Philippines
Portugal
Sri Lanka
United Kingdom

. . . to name a few.

I think that a person's qualifications for national leadership outweigh gender in deciding votes for presidency.

    I certainly wouldn't base my vote solely on someone's gender.
