"Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton.  His 4 year old son fell out of a window (50 stories) and soon after he wrote this song. So sad.

I'm hoping someone writes and performs "The Impeachment Blues."

  • Ugh, the feeling and pain in this song is like nothing I've heard in anything else.

    Watching Over Me
    Iced Earth

I had a friend many years ago
    One tragic night he died
The saddest time of my life
For weeks and weeks I cried
Through the anger and through the tears
I've felt his spirit through the years
    I'd swear, He's watching me
    Guiding me through hard times

    I feel it once again
    It's overwhelming me
    His spirit's like the wind
    The angel guarding me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
    He's watching over me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
    He's watching over me

We shared dreams like all best friends
Blood brothers at the age of ten
We lived reckless, he paid the price
Why did he have to die?
It still hurts me to this day
Am I selfish for feeling this way?
I know he's an angel now
    Together we'll be someday

    I feel it once again
    It's overwhelming me
    His spirit's like the wind
    The angel guarding me
Oh, I know, oh, I know
    He's watching over me

I had tears welling up before the first verse was over.
    :(

The lyrics and band's song performance strike me as in-your-face honesty - - an in-your-face dynamic doesn't always work for me - -  here it does.

Thank you for posting the lyrics.

  • It’s not all that common to see such blatantly honest emotion in the metal genre. Usually masked in a sea of metaphors.

I admit I'm very unfamiliar with the metal genre- - but when I've been exposed to it, like you've done here, I now realize that I almost always like the song and/or band. I like this song a lot - - I don't think I've ever heard of the band.
