My wife and I don't own a dishwasher; we had it removed when the kitchen was remodeled about ten years ago. It came with the house when we moved in here almost two decades ago, and we had never used it. She and I are anti-dishwasher, preferring to wash by hand. Prior to owning this house, we had rented a house for many years, apartments for many years, and had resided in base housing when I served in the US Marine Corps. Most of those abodes had dishwashers installed, but we were never great fans of them, so we seldomly used them, if at all. ~
Dishwasher tablets are one of the most dangerous chemicals in your home....hold one in your hand and activate it with water and it will disolve your skin in 15 minutes..... The chemicals that leave things sparkling clean you can feel on everything the at gets washed in your machine....I can feel it on our cups and cutlery and always rinse it off before drying and putting things back in the cupboard... I often wonder what happens to all chemicals that goes down our drains.....how are these discarded chemicals removed before being allowed to enter our oceans...if they are removed ,how are they then disposed of.... there must be millions of tons to get rid of in just America alone ....What on earth happens to it all...... Nothing at all is ever said about it....
Plenty has been said and regulation are in place. Phosphates were the devil we had to hear about for years. But chemicals are something Americans cannot get away from. The Eurpean countries do not allow much of the harmful chems that Americans are exposed to. Everyone in DC is rich and getting richer because of.
Drop a tiny peice of litter ,even by accident and you get a £100 fine ....A women dropped Ten pounds from her back pocket and was fined some years ago....
Yes I vaguely remember the hue and cry about phosphates and the damage they do....yet they are still used to this day.... Household bleach and detergents are another things that that's left on our plates if not rinsed thoroughly... Why have things less harmful not been devoloped ?
