Since the 't' word was elected, I have noticed that only a handful here have confessed to be its supporters.

Why do you think that is? Embarrassment?

Please don't hold up Obama when you talk about debt.  I believe Trump has increased that as well.  Hypocrisy - thy name is Trump.

Exactly - and the polls had HRC on a hiding to nothing, so many Dems who probably would have voted for her as Hobson's choice simply failed to show up and vote. Apathy and Dem complacency got Trump elected - I can't see them allowing that again.

Voter turnout was higher in 2016 than 2012. So no it was not that voters stayed home.
2016 had the most votes ever cast. And more voter participation rate of 55.5%. 2012 VPR was 54.9%.
    Year/Eligible Voters/Votes/VPR

    2004 219,553,000 122,349,000 55.7%
    2008 229,945,000 131,407,000 58.2%
    2012 235,248,000 129,235,000 54.9%
    2016 250,056,000 138,847,000 55.5% This post was edited by my2cents at November 4, 2019 8:27 AM MST

The DEMOCRAT voters stayed away, as the stupidity of the DNC denied them a candidate they believed in. Alternatively, the hillbilly hicks all turned out to vote for a TV star, and the skewed American idea of what constitutes a gerrymander and what does not ensured that their votes counted for a lot more than the much larger number of votes in the more populous States. One vote in Wyoming counts for as much as seven votes in California, measured in terms of EC delegates.

So you think it is a matter of who excites their base enough to bring them out to vote? Not the Indepent voter who swings the election?
I actually agree with that 100%.
I know all the Obama voters I personally know (I am originally from IL so I know serveral) ALL voted for Trump this time....so they are the Dem base who came out and voted for Trump. And will again.

Do you believe people will not vote against Sanders or Warren...lol or be so bored they forget to bother with Biden.
They do not have a candidate who can beat Trump...and they know it. That is the only reason for the impeachment...they think it is their only chance. And it will not matter.

How many times do I have to tell people that a national/state wide election cannot be gerrymandered...that ONLY applies to the House of Reps. And local state races.  This post was edited by my2cents at November 5, 2019 6:42 AM MST

Nothing like a bigoted generalization. Why not also say that all black people are stupid or all Irish are drunks?

Republicans in general tend to be quiet about their political opinions.  My parents were surprised to find out their area always votes Republican. They are Dems who voted for Trump and still support Trump.

In my area it is opposite, people would be quiet about voting for a Dem. It also always go Rep.

Most people have their opinion and do not want to fight about it. Even on here, I believe there are more Trump supporters than most realize. But many just stay away from the political questions. This post was edited by my2cents at November 5, 2019 5:19 AM MST

I live in the industrial Center of America. I voted for Trump. However, this site is overwhelmingly packed with liberals, so I avoid talking about that subject, except with Sharonna. She tends to overdo the Trump-hate thing. There are lotsa other subjects to talk about that do not include politics.

The chances of  winning someone to your political side is close to zero.  And the chance of having an argument and turning them against you is close to 100%. So for the most part I do not bother with that. Did way back there but I just don't need that.

There are a few reasons for this.  The main reason is that there are only a few people on here.  Half of them LOVE that pri   ck
