All I can think of is that the concept of beating the Weenies sounds somehow enjoyable.

“Beat the Weenies”? I almost busted my spleen laughing at that one!  I can see it now:

Sports Announcer: Folks, we have a real barn-burner going on today!  The Weenies were ahead at the beginning of the game, but they’ve sputtered and have been down ever since their opponents smashed  them against the mat! If the Weenies expect to win this match, they’ve really got to pull things together. I’ve never seen the Weenies get cut down to size, their coach will rip them a new one for the way they’ve fizzled out. Game after game, many teams handle the Weenies any way they want to, and it’s usually the Weenies that come in last. Team Weenie sure could use some help, maybe more time on the practice field.

My whole family is.  I don't get the thrill.  I don't dislike them, but I don't get the thrill of them at ALL.  I like The Bulls. I can understand the passion for them.  But the Cubs?  Really?  I am no sports person.  Ignore me.  This is not an opinion anyone should heed, just an observation from way out there in left-field, as those sports people say.  And, of course, I'd root for those football guys from Chicago, what's their names again?

Hmmmm, good point, but would you believe that even hummingbirds have a violent mean streak when it comes  to defending their territory from other hummingbirds accessing their pollen fields and in mating? I learned that watching an in-depth documentary about those seemingly docile, harmless birds.

What do you have against the Cards? The birds-on bat logos are among the best.

I lived in Illinois, and I went outdoors to the thrill of Red Cardinals.  They never swooped me or anyone.  They were not crows.  Who didn't swoop me either.  I'm tired of the bad rap birds get.  It's like pitt bulls.  Stop spreading the bird crap.  (kidding)

There is a town here in Minnesota named Blooming Prairie. Their team is called the Blossoms. I have always found that to be an unfortunate name for a football team, but perhaps it makes them try harder. This post was edited by Jane S at December 2, 2019 9:12 AM MST
