Would you still disbelieve because there is no way you would believe anything the other side says even if it exactly the same as your side says. Right or wrong?
As long as "IT" supports ones beliefs/prejudices IT is accepted as gospel. Accepted as true. No matter how outrageous and dumbheaded it is. How is that possible and WHY?
