Her mother sued, but the city decided to settle out of court.
The problem had been that 55 people had died in that same jail within 10 years. Hopefully, this awakens others in how to take care of prisoners who are ill, need special medication while held, and do a better job.
Many restaurants or clubs state such policies. But can a patron be legally charged for drinks if he had none? Or can a patron refuse to pay and automatically added gratuity?

He did this for decades and some of the children created are adults now who have put the pieces together. Initially, the doctor denied it, but after DNA tests were done, he admitted he may have used his own sperm as much as 50 times.
There are two aspects of this:
1) Should he face an obstruction of justice charge for lying about it?
2) Should he have to pay the children and their mothers damages?

The best we can do is contain/restrict actions but sometimes even that doesn't work. Too bad tolerance and fairness doesn't work from outside in and can only occur inside out. You cannot legislate/force people to like those whom they hate. Or love those whom they despise. Or help those for whom they nothing but contempt. Maybe one day?
