Well the earthquakes are hardest on the tallest buildings - the churches - and so 80,000 people were killed as they worshipped. Does it work that way? You take it off when convenient and put it back on when convenient? Like a coat? What happens to that coat when you're not wearing it? Moths start gnawing away at it and it becomes a rag and unwearable. You toss it out.
