Uff da, he is from the Suburbs for gods sake. I will grant you he has seen it on the shelf at Byerly's or Kowalskis, I doubt if he or his parents ever bought however.
Now a question for you, have you ever seen a Spam Hotdish at a Church Dinner, Lutheran or otherwise. Leave Mt Olivet out of this answer, that congregation has so much money they would bypass said product in a heartbeat.
BTW my old neighborhood 50th & France just over the Minneapolis border.
I can't remember going to a church dinner since I was a child, so I don't recall. When I was working, we had a Spam hotdish and bars competition. I like the 50th and France area, it's not far from where I live on the poor side of Edina.
I used to but the last time I bought a can of spam it was just a slab of crappy baloney in a can.

After many years of not eating it, I decided to buy a can about 6 years ago. It was so salty, I only ate one bite and tossed the rest in the trash. No, I don't like it.
Right now, there is sliced Spam in the fridge. Wait a second, I'll make a sandwich. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm back with my Spam sandwich. There is always a can in the house. It is from a pigs' shoulder.
