No.  Everything he sang sounded the same.  Not sure why he is such a "legend" - he can't sing well at all.

We all have different tastes in music and that's fine.  I'm not much into the old, twangy country music.  I do have a Kenny Chesney CD that I like.

That’s never been the genre of music of which I am a fan.

I much prefer Willy Nelson and Kris Kristoffeson singing with the Highwaymen...Willy Nelson is the greatest...
His guitar has a large hole under the round hole where his finger nails has worn it away....lol

I just love his voice and style..

I distinctly remember, while driving my car one night, hearing Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" for the first time. I kept "taking the long way home" to hear the entire song. I loved it.
And then I later found out that Cash wrote it!
And I heard his version and was blown away.

I love his original and I love Nine Inch Nails' cover.
    :)

That song would be my favorite that I've heard of Cash. But he's pretty amazing to me. More so, though, in his creating "Hurt" -- I never would have guessed he was the songwriter.

It was wrote by Nine Inch Nails, Johnny covered it...and made it his own. :)

He also covered Kristofferson's; "Sunday Morning Coming Down". Another great version, which I won't post cos I know you're feeling tired. I recommend it tho...a great listen. :)

you're kidding me about "Hurt,"? But I know you'e not.

    I give up. Ha!

Here I got it completely backwards.
     Geez.

To my credit, I was right, though -- "I never would have thought he was the songwriter."  Because he wasn't.

I think you or someone may have already corrected me on all of this - - and I forgot.

Yeah, after this huge mistake, I think it may be bedtime for WelbyQ  tonight.
    :)

Thanks for helping me out on this song, though. :)

Yes. Ring of Fire is still his best for me.

He does some interesting covers for a country singer. Like Hurt by NIN and Rusty Cage by Soundgarden.

So in 1963, I go out with some cousins to see a movie. (at a drive-in theatre)  The movie is entitled 'Ring of Fire.'  Nobody in the popular mainstream heard of Johnny Cash, but after this song, Ring of Fire was played during the movie, and made Johnny a pop star.
