Discussion»Questions»Current Events and News» Are there any movies and/or songs that would be inappropriate to play these days. I heard this on the radio the other day.
I've read that, years ago, the three references to "that little fa**ot" in Dire Straits's "Money For Nothing" had to be taken out when the song aired on radio stations. I never really thought about it, I guess. I like the song. I don't know.
In some ways, to me, it's just a word. Yet, I can't even count the times I've been damned to hell by others for just being me. From people who don't even know me.
I would have thought Blazing Saddles too but they are actually doing a "remake" of this movie. The catch? It's animated and features cats and dogs, haha.
There was a nasty racial slur in the song Stranded In The Jungle by the New York Dolls but it still got a lot of air play in the 70's. Cheers and happy weekend!
For a lot of folks today pretty much everything is inappropriate. They call it political correctness. You mentioned "no black people". In your video no. However, the group (The Orlons) who sang this song is black.
The dance itself, the Watusi, of which this song is about, was fashioned after the dances performed by the Watusi tribe in Africa. The Vibrations, also a black group, recorded a song called Watusi in 1961.
The original Ghostbusters would be too racy for today's culture.
-Predominantly white cast -Sexist protagonist that has a hard time hearing the word "no" when it comes to women -Mockery and disrespect for the EPA (Ghostbusters probably caused global warming)
