What's the funniest euphemism for homosexuality you've heard?

My mother's cousin (my first cousin once removed) is a lesbian. When her mother, an eastern European immigrant born in 1901, began to figure that out, she asked her, "Are you a Libyan?" LOL.

    I wouldn't consider that a euphemism. I would call it a malapropism. I don't think I know any funny euphemisms for homosexuality, but I have heard several demeaning or offensive ones. I won't repeat them here.

    When homosexual acts between men were illegal in Britian (from some time in the 19C to about 1963, I think), newspaper obituries allegedly sometimes used the tem "confirmed bachelor".

    The obvious problem being that it could trap the reputation of men who were heterosexual but could not find a wife or preferred to stay single!

    There's a subreddit called "Sappho and her friend," which I think is pretty humorous. It originally seemed to allude to historians' utter incapacity to read homoerotic documents as such.

    My aunt once telephoned me and said that she'd fallen over her rug and hurt her leg and that she was a "rug muncher" to the girls at work, I said No you're not, that is a euphemism for a lesbian, she was mortified.

  • "Friend of Dorothy" is apparently an old fashioned euphemism for a homosexual man. It may refer to Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, as Judy Garland was an early gay icon.

  • Yes, "Friend of Dorothy" does refer to Dorothy of "The Wizard of Oz."  How about a "Friend of Toto?"
