Have you ever practiced meditation? Did you get anything out of it?

The only time I tried practicing meditation was in a therapy group dealing with drug/alcohol addictions, the leader guided our meditating sessions with music that I found very relaxing but I could never really get any kind of in depth sort of 'soul changing' benefits.

Meditation requires complete quiet.  Living in NYC, that is not a possibility.

I once managed to finagle my way into a group of women who were undergoing meditation therapy in order to channel all their pent up desires and sensual fantasies toward me.

And did you get any benefit from it? Meditating, that is.

Oh, was I supposed to mediate too? I thought it was just an exercise in them meditating about me! Oops.

I guess I’ll have to reestablish contact with each one of them and meet to hash that out . . .

Only when I took a mediation class.  I've never experienced formal mediation in real life.

I do, in contemplative prayer. Helps me tune out the world and focus.

My better half uses meditation as part of her daily routine. Medication alone wasn't cutting it, combined with meditation she's now the one telling everyone ELSE to calm down.

Nah. Just a bit of self-medication.

No.  I did learn, practice, and use Lamaze though.

Kind of. Every year I go into an aboriginal sweat/healing lodge. You have to meditate to clear your mind so that Spirit Bear will pay you a visit and guide you to a better path. I think I got some positive things from it including clean pores. Cheers! This post was edited by Nanoose at November 14, 2021 1:31 PM MST

Yes, but not guided meditation, just awareness. It made me aware of all the noise, smells, feelings, and touch, the brain misses out on in everyday life. It also made me aware of how our thinking and feeling keeps us hostage in the past and future, and stops us being present in the moment. It made me aware of how shallow I breathe, and how out of touch I am with my own breathing, this type of breathing causes problems else where in the body. It also encourages you to really look at something for the first time, a fresh, as you did when you were a child, because once we start learning language, a tree becomes like any other tree, and you miss the individuality of everything. I would recommend it. This post was edited by kjames at November 16, 2021 6:18 AM MST
