Have you ever camped out in a tent? If so, what's the most fun you remember having while tent-camping?

Many many times.  My husband and I loved tent camping PK (pre kids).  Everything gets more complicated once the kids arrive.  We did camp some after the first one came but it died off in favor of just spending our  time at the lake enjoying the fun of a boat.

Camping in the Smokies and Blue Ridge is the most fun and you become part of one of the most beautiful places on Earth.   I recall being trapped on top of a picnic table under which several skunks were hanging out.  I thought they would never leave.  We had encounters with the black bears of that area too.  My memories of those days are great ones.

I loved camping with my parents as a child! I spent a lot of time at a lake cabin with a friend and her family and those times are definitely among my favorite childhood memories, too.

I hope to camp in the Smokies one day, though I'm sure I'd prefer a camper or RV at this point, especially where bears are attracted to campers!  It's just the most magical place, and yes, most beautiful. I need to get back there soon.

I was a Boy Scout, and enjoy fishing, and hiking with my better half. We try to get in some camping when we can. A double sleeping bag is something you can't do otherwise without it seeming weird.

Nice that you still go camping! Good point about the double sleeping bag, but who cares if it's weird otherwise? Weird is the only way to be!

For about five years, I was about eight years old through 13 years old, our family, yearly in the summers, camped for a week at East Harbor State Park, Ohio, campground, across the way from Cedar Point Amusement Park.

    I smile at the memories.

That looks like a beautiful place to camp!

Do you still enjoy amusement parks, Welby?

Yes, this is the view we had -- across the water is the area of Cedar Point. You're right, the whole area is beautiful to me.

I very much still love amusement parks. I would do well for myself to go to one soon again; it's been a long time since I've treated myself. (Though they're all closed around my area now until spring.)

Though Cedar Point will most likely always be my favorite amusement park, I also very much enjoy Holiday World in Santa Claus Indiana, USA. And that park has my very favorite coaster - - The Voyage.
Come ride with me in the front seat everyone!

I used to love coasters so much.  I've never been to either of those parks, but that sure looks like fun!

You should treat yourself again in the spring!

I love The Blue Streak, too. It was the first roller coaster I ever rode.   :)

No, it's a small wooden one, but quite fun. No waiting lines. I remember when it was the only roller coaster.

(I was just joking. Too big to fail as in the financial institutions that got government bailout money based on that principle.)

I haven't, unfortunately, but I did spend a cold night under the stars on a Croatian beach, because someone thought it wouldn't be necessary to make reservations...

I've seen Croation beaches on TV... beautiful!!  How cold was it and did you at least have a blanket and firewood?

I can't imagine not having reservations since the internet has existed. Such spontaneity sounds exciting, but also anxiety-producing!

Some people think there will be vacancies and just go waltzing into an inn, a hotel or motel, a B&B, a hostel, etc. without any reservations.

Being prepared was a girl scout lesson that I REALLY took to heart! :)

On a recent vacation, my return trip plans had to be changed rather last minute due to unexpected snowfall. I was very happy I'd chosen a booking option with a 24-hour before arrival cancellation policy, so I didn't accrue a penalty of any kind when cancelling. I definitely wished I'd done more research before booking at the new stopover city, though. It was as close to one of those dingy no-tell places you post images of as I'll ever stay. I shudder recalling it now. I can't believe I actually stayed there overnight. Yuck!

It would have been a lot more comfortable with some company! You should have called me!
