Have your hopes for seeing a woman president within your lifetime been evaporated since the lost of Hillary Clinton?

No, I'm certain that some day they'll find the right candidate that happens to be female. I don't think Hillary was the right one. I don't really care whether they're male or female anyway.

  • To be honest?  I kinda stopped caring who is in office or what not.   Fuq 'em all.

Clinton didn't lose because she's a woman; she lost because she is herself.

She lost because her "supporters" thought she was a slam dunk to win, so didn't bother to show up and vote.

That's probably part of it. But I think more had to do with, well, aside from being Hillary, her not spending enough time in three key states that she lost by small margins- Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania- which would have put her over the top in the electoral college.

Michigan voting for Trump was particularly surprising, given that Governor Snyder's administration has been widely blamed for the Flint water crisis,  and Detroit suffered hugely from Dubya's GFC. You'd think that they would sooner vote for a brontosaurus than a GOP candidate. Short memories?

Hillary took too much for granted and instead of delivering a clear and convincing message of hope to disenfranchised Americans, like those in Detroit and Flint, she assumed she'd coast to victory with a purely "Trump is a dishonest, immoral, incompetent fool" message. Add to that Trump promising them the world and Hillary not even bothering to show up in the state, and people who didn't particularly like her anyway figured they might as well give Trump a shot. I never claimed to speak for you or anybody else. I just find it completely incomprehensible that the MAJORITY of the local population, who depend on the municipal water supply, continue to vote for the guys that f**ked it up.
The Flint river water was KNOWN to be corrosive due to chlorine contamination, General Motors truck assembly plant refused to use it for that reason. The city authorities were aware of this but still failed to apply corrosion inhibitors to the water when they switched supply from Lake Huron. It attacked the lead in the pipes.
15 deaths, 15 criminal indictments, 12000 kids exposed to unacceptably high levels of lead - and they still vote for Snyder's party. It beggars belief, frankly

  • You should stop now.   She knows much more about it then you've wasted your time reading about it.

Well darlin'...I can play this however you want.  Factually, you and everyone else who thinks they know wtf goes on here should just admit you/they don't know squat.  Factually, every...yes, EVERY, governmental agency involved shares in the blame.  Asshole conservatives want to blame the city...the city shares in the blame, but is not solely responsible.  Asshole Democrats want to blame the state, which shsres the blame, but is not solely responsible either.  No one seems to want to blame the feds...which are very responsible if not in causation, in witholding information.  Factually, every level of government failed here.  What happened here was not caused by Democrats or Republicans...it was caused by bureaucracy.

    What hopes?

Who cares what gender the president is anyway.  It doesn't make them a better or worse president.  I would much prefer a qualified president.  How about one of those for a change?  How about one with a moral core and some integrity that knows how politics work?
