It's always been composer Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" as far as I can remember.
I may be wrong a bit here but from what I've read, I seem to remember that Anderson did not intend the piece to be particularly a holiday piece - - it was just an instrumental representation of a sleigh ride. It became "holiday-related" when words were written for it and then it all became more famous, I guess. I much prefer the original instrumental version - - and this particular performance is my favorite. :)
(And I love that Peanuts Gang image!)

Fairytale of NewYork..... Shane MacGowan the Pogues lead singer lives or use to live about 5 miles from where I live.... Such a shame about how Kirsty MacCool died.......and more the cover up after....
Oh Holy Night......I remember I heard that first when I was about five years old .....it was in the film Home Alone which had my whole family laughing and cringing all the way through it.......
A church choir sang it and I thought it sounded amazing........such a shame it had religious connotations....

Well, you know, we used to have some favorites, and then came rock & roll versions, and then came gag versions and parodies, and then we started hearing all kinds of classical music subbing for Christmas music, ... This year, Christmas music just makes me feel like I have heard this stuff just about enough times. Christmas doesn't even exist any more. It has been totally replaced by Lightmas, and Lightmas doesn't have any music. I have several hours of carousel organ music and I play that instead. Or Hawaiian music.
