You make a very thought-provoking point.. I have no answers but it's interesting to think about.

I have heard that but don't know if it is true. Some of that Roman Catholic stuff seems pretty weird. Don't think they are allowed to have sex while there.

Jesus didn't have many girlfriends, did he? But he did have a lot of male friends. I think the question justifies something. What do you all think?

    Eagles beat the Patriots.

If you knew nothing about American football, seeing the that italicized sentence might cause some confusion.

If you know nothing about Catholicism, the phrase brides of Christ, would make no sense either.

But at least you would have know that the question about the Monks doesn't have a parallel.

Since Catholics don't give any weight to the Bible and context, I am curious as to your take on the phrase brides of Christ?

I haven't heard about that just because I've never really been around Catholics but evangelical protestant churches in USA like to tell single women that Christ will be their husband until they find someone to marry so I guess my cousin who is single got a divorce from Jesus because he was a lousy husband, no cards, no gifts, no boxes of chocolate.  She became a Wiccan.

Hmm, when I think about it most of the people I know who are single are also formerly Christian.

Doesn't make any sense, does it? When Catholics say "Christ" they mean that helpless infant in a cradle or that helpless blob of flesh on the cross. Christ is not a savior in the Catholic theology. Mary is.

The belief that nuns are brides of Christ is mere Catholic non-scriptural doctrine. This post was edited by Autumnleaves at February 27, 2018 11:37 PM MST
