I'm not against cell phones, or any type of telephone, but I do think a lot of us are losing out, by never ever being alone. I also agree that anything new does frighten people to a certain extent. Where I grew up, there was no television, and not much on the two radion stations. My dad was  pretty cultivated , but once he had read the newspaper, it didn't stop him from just reading one cowboy novel after another. I just read comics. So I don't think things were any better. I finished  school in South Africa, where with the segregation, they preferred not to keep the people too informed, so there was no TV there either. When I came to Europe, I found the kids, with their parents televisions,  were much better aware of politics, and what was going on in the world than I was. However, when I started to work, like most people, it was so easy to press that fatal button on the television, and then my evening woul...    less

And then later, if we're good,  we reach the nirvana. Each time we die, we all melt  into one sort sort of giant cosmic ocean, a bit like each and every one of us are just like a wave on an ocean until we become reincarnated again. In which case, I suppose animals must also take their turn to be a part of that ocean, before they become human beings.     less

Like most people of my age I was brought up to believe in the God of the Bible, and although today, I could never believe in all that stuff, I still can't help having the reflex to imagine that there is a presence that's observing me, and has often been there to make things easier for me. But as long as he didn't insist, I don't suppose it mattered too much. As for the young girl I was talking about, we were friends for a few years so I have to admit, I did get fond of her. She had a very nice boyfriend, and cried on my shoulder when ever things were going bad. But she met her boyfriend on internet, and it was after a few months that she met him in flesh and blood, and yet now they're married, so it shows that there must be some positive side  to it. I know another young lad who is going out with a girl he was keen on, on internet for a long time. But that said, my daughters tell me that most of the guy's they liked of internet, when they finally met them, they were disappointed. I think the physical side plays an important part. The thing that once you've got rid of it, the scenery suddenly looks a lot better, and more encouraging.  Another thing is to do the essential, that makes it look as though you've cleaned up, but it's just to bluff the visitors that you've invited.
