Was the news of your first sexual experience met by your parents with joy or disapproval?

When I broke my news to my parents at 42, tney said they wished they had received it at least 10 years earlier.

My mum was very cool, very open about sex and that transferred to me, so I never had a problem telling her about anything sexual, indeed I didn't have to, she always just knew.

  • Moms always seem to know, don't they?

  • Every person who has responded has mentioned mother's reaction. No one has mentioned father's reaction even though my question specifically mentions "parents". I wonder why.

My mother didn't care what I did...so I never told her anything.

Met with total disclosure as they revealed the moments of my conception in kind.

They didn't get the news of the first time. The first one they heard about was met with disapproval - when I told them she was pregnant. Mum in particular was horrified - staunch Catholic.
My aunt Anne's reaction was particularly interesting, when Dad told her. "Hasn't the boy heard of condoms?"
    Aunt Anne is a nun.

I went to visit her when Dad told me about it.
"Yes, I have heard of condoms. We broke one. Anyway, what would YOU know about it?"
She got an innocent look, and said primly, "We get the theory!"

Dad took it in his stride. He wasn't thrilled, but not as shocked as Mum was.

It's never been a topic of conversation between my mother and myself.

I had no father figure in my life at that time. My biological father had never been around, and my mother was divorced from my stepfather for many years by then.

I didn't do anything but my mother accused me of doing something with the girl across the street.  It was years later, and not with that girl.

Nothing about it was news.  This qualified as a genuine Answerbag question.  Well done! This post was edited by Thriftymaid at April 22, 2018 11:39 PM MDT
