No offense.  This is a great question and all, but I cannot STAND anything to do with the Royal Family and I cannot stand that people think they matter.  They do NOT.

Boring bores.  Elitist pigs.  Watch your P's and Q's.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

With respect, and I am not a fan of the royals.. but I do think people misunderstand much about them.. they don't have any power, they are just figureheads and they don't really harm anyone.. the conspiracy theories that the queen does anything or has any say over anything are fantasy.

So when we say they don't matter - they don't but they don't really do much harm either.. well apart from the fact we pay their wages via taxes. If people want to get excited about it all - I don't begrudge them, I won't be joining them and don't even know when the event is.... but I really don't mind if others want to celebrate it.
I have to say, and have said before, that they do do some good, other country's like them, so they do attract tourists and they often do promote the country on their travels...

They tend to be pretty staid and dignified, I don't think they are allowed to cause scenes in front of the queen are they?

I bow to your judgement on that one... I am not a royal follower and really don't know much about who she is, what she does or what her story is.. I had a vague glimmering that there were some less than harmonious elements in her background but that's all I know
