Probably nothing, because I'm not the confrontational type. If I had someone with me or could get a stranger to back me up, then I'd maybe confront them.
Sometimes I test God right back. I say, "God? What happens if I tell this GUY what I am thinking right now in no uncertain terms?" Sometimes God lets that happen by making me go through all the egoic self-congratulatory nonsense I tell myself about how effective I was. Then I hear GOD. Because? I hear silence. And? I know God has stopped listening to me.
Then I get lonely and swear I won't do it again.
I am often lonely because I cannot let go of this wonderful passtime.
Politely, but firmly tell them cutting in line is unacceptable and I don’t care how important he or she thinks they are, but they aren’t more important than anyone else. This happened to me recently. The person argued and management stepped in. They made the jerk move to the back of the line.
I'd give it the old John Wayne routine: Whoa there, Pilgrim ya gettin' ahead of yoreself. We're circling all the shopping carts over yonder and remember, if ya can see it, it's not an Apache.
1. (Politely) "Excuse me, but maybe you didn't realize that the line forms here."
2. (Firmly) "Excuse me, but I was here before you."
3. (Slightly annoyed) "Either I must have showered in Windex this morning and you looked right through me, or you're blind and you can't see me standing here."
4. (Moderately annoyed) "Do you see all of those people behind me? They're waiting in line, and the end of it is back there."
5. (Ignoring the perpetrator completely and addressing the cashier/clerk) "Excuse me, I have been waiting in line and he/she just jumped up in front of me. I would appreciate it if you'd respect those of us who are doing it properly and attend to us first, thank you."
6. (Extremely annoyed and in a sarcastic tone) "You must be special and don't have to wait like the rest of us. You're not the only one who's in a hurry, all of us have something else to do and somewhere else to be."

I would act like a grownup and not notice. He will learn soon enough. Many Americans will cut a person for cutting in line. It is so common that tourist agencies WARN clients not to cut in line. But it won't be me.
