There's something about N.W. Ohio soil that grows those vegetables well. Perhaps that is why there is a Campbell's Soup factory in Napoleon, a tomato juice factory in Northwood, and a ketchup factory in Fremont.
Ha! I have no garden, except some flowers the squirrels demolish every year. You at least have three of my favorite food items. Tomatoes are expensive at the store. If you grow your own, you have saved yourself at least 5 bucks at the grocery store. Good for you Element. :) :)
I already have a garden. It has rhubarb, asparagus, lettuce, peas, beans, onions, spinach, beets, kohlrabi, radishes, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins and sweet corn.
For sub-tropics with red podsolic soil. Shrubs with long flowering seasons that overlap so there are blooms all year round. Minimum upkeep. No weed potential. Flower colours blue through to purple, and cream to white, with good fragrances. All evergreens, no variegated foliage, but plenty of variety in textures. Plus fruit trees, vegies, herbs and medicinals.
Oh, I have a garden... several in fact (flour, vegetable and rock). This year I planted corn, several varieties of tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers and cantaloupe in my vegetable garden. Unfortunately, an uninvited "guest" helped himself to a lot of the produce.

I'll give it a try. However, this rat can see through any kind of trap. He actually dismantles my traps and keeps parts of them for himself (is he building a "human trap"?).
This is one smart rat. He robs traps without springing it. He dismantles traps and then take the parts he can "use" (I hate to think what he's building out there). He spites me, and has even come up to me and made an obscene gesture after I tried a new bait in the traps. This is one "bad" rat (I swear his fur has pomade on it - all slicked back, just like James Dean).
